Basement Renovation Project {Pt 03 before}

And after a few more days of deciding exactly where/how I wanted to lay the laminate wood flooring, I finally decided with my original layout. Though I'm expanding the main area further {by at least 2ft} and reducing the area near the sliding doors substantially...{more on this later once I get that far!}

Anyway, I slaved away all night after work, laying the laminate in the main area on both sides of the new wall I built ~ damn do my knees hurt so bad now, but it was worth it.

However, I'm in a bit of a predicament now, as I've gone as far as I can until I move that short wall/gate/thingy that my PC desk is anchored too. The plan has always been to remove that entirely since I'm moving my PC to a new location, I just havn't decided on the new counter top color scheme yet. Didn't have the money until yesterday for one, and two its a bit of a drive to go and get it, and I was waiting until I absolutely needed it to save gas. {so expensive here}

Well now I need it, though I'm quite exhausted, so time for a shower and then some sleep, and if I don't sleep too late, then I'll probably go and get my new counter top this afternoon! {an FYI, I prefer the counter tops cause they're not only really thick and sturdy, but are covered in laminate and look nice, though the current 'Orange' one I have it quite blah...hehe}

After a few days of rest, I finally got in an finished laying the remaining laminate wood flooring near the sliding doors. This was really annoying cause nearly an entire box of this laminate was warped on one edge causing it not to lay flat for 8" along one side and I didn't notice it until I was nearly 1/2 done. I had to pull it all up and start over. Plus it wasn't entirely level near the door, so before all this I had to wait a day or two after using this stuff called "water putty" to raise the floor nearly 1/4in along the entire opening of the door, and patch holes in varies other areas.














Clearing the area to make way for nailing in tack-strips and rolling out the carpet padding:








And finally getting the carpet padding cut to fit, and glued down. Man that stuff is a bitch to work with sometimes, and the glue dries fast and is not easy to clean out of dog paws and hair...rofl












And nearly done. Laid out one of the large pieces of carpet for a place to sleep on and cover the tacks in places so I or my dogs don't step on them until Tues/Wed when the carpet will be cut to fit and stretched:

Now, I'd love to finally be done after this, but I still need to purchase and lay out the transition pieces, buy and paint a new door and hang it, buy and put up new shelving in various locations, and lastly move some of the all that crap back into this main room and organize it all...ROFL

I'll get back to ya all with some final pics once all that's done! May be a week or so though...

Coming along well - bet you can't wait to finish and get everything back in place.

This is one of the largest projects I have planned this year, and I'll be very happy to have it done. Its been nearly 3 weeks since I began, so I've made quite good progress for doing it all myself to this point.

It'll just be so nice to have it done and rest for awhile...
